Reshaping the region
In the mid 1990’s we became involved in a design charrette organized by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). David was the steering committee chair for this study, which explored alternative models for suburban land and community development in the Pittsburgh airport corridor. The charrette included three separate sessions of intensive community input and a two-day planning workshop.

Jeremiah's Hope Hospital
The client on this study was Christian Medical Ministries to Cambodia. David served as Medical Planner, Master Site Planner and Project Architect in coordination with Ministry Architecture Inc.. Responsible for site planning and functional planning of a 9,000-square-meter hospital at a rural site in Cambodia. Clinical areas included surgical suite, laboratories, and 50-bed inpatient care wing and outpatient clinic. In addition to the hospital complex, planning work included site layout of the learning center for Kampuchea for Christ, along with the living facilities for staff and students for both programs. Our participation included a week-long visit to the site at Kampong Chhnang including meetings with hospital and missionary leaders in Phnom Penh.
The final report was performed in collaboration with students and faculty of Texas A&M University.
Community Visioning Exercise and Analysis
Borough of Carnegie, Pennsylvania
David acted as an Independent consultant to the agency serving the Borough of Carnegie, to solicit resident and community leader input for future planning. Effort included facilitating a community meeting, conducting tours, and observing urban characteristics of Carnegie and surrounding communities and their infrastructure, compiled in a report to Board of the Carnegie Area Revitalization Effort.
